About The Tour

Singalila National Park is the perfect getaway for nature and photography enthusiasts. Nights are all about chasing the Milky Way, while daytime offers incredible views of the landscape. Sandakphu is quite popular destination for trekker and tourist alike, but due to the growing popularity, it is becoming crowded and light polluted as well, hence we decided to venture "Beyond Sandakphu" to a place called Thakum Valley, where we will be staying for the majority part of the trip.

The real showstopper? From where we’re staying, you get jaw-dropping views of four of the five tallest peaks in the world, Everest, Kangchenjunga, Lhotse, and Makalu. It's a sight you won’t forget.

Important Points to Consider

  • Be prepared both physically and mentally for cold and windy conditions in April.

  • In April, the Milky Way core rises at midnight (after 12 am). While other astro shots can be taken during normal night hours, capturing the Milky Way will require getting up at midnight in the cold. Please be mentally prepared for this.

  • The unpredictable weather in Singalila Forest means cloudy skies may occur. We carefully plan our trips to minimize these chances, and we conduct thorough research beforehand. Although these events are considered acts of God, we do our best to reduce their likelihood.

  • Ensure you carry adequate clothing for the cold, including windcheaters, balaclavas, gloves, and warm socks.

  • In the event of a vehicle breakdown on the way to Tonglu, Thakum you will need to wait until the vehicle is repaired, as no alternate arrangements are available.

  • Water is a scarce resource in this region, so please use it sparingly and it is advisable to bring your own hot water flask.

  • Meals will be provided as per the menu of the hotel/home stay, which includes chicken, eggs, dal, rice, roti, vegetables, Maggi, bread and tea.

  • Electricity load shedding is common in this area, with limited power backup. Please be patient if this occurs.

  • Drink sufficient amounts of water and try to avoid smoking.

  • Do not expect stable Mobile network (WiFi might be available in certain areas).

  • Excessive consumption of alcohol can pose health risks, especially at high altitudes. Please be cautious.
